What Bible says about Christmas?

Question: Assalam-o-Alekom Sir, I would like to ask a question that what Bible says about Christmas?
(A brother from Philistine)

Answer:

walekom assalam, How are you Brother? You asked really a good Question; As far as I read the Bible, the word 'Christmas' does not exist in it. The Bible doesn't say anything about the festival of Christmas, with one exception, where it itself bible criticizes the decoration of the (Christmas) trees. In the book of Jeremiah 10; verse 3 to 5, it mentions:

"For the customs of the people are vain: for one couchette a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good"

Consequently; We have no any evidence which proves that Jesus (Peace be upon him) ordered his followers to celebrate Christmas; further; there is no mention in the entire Bible that any of his followers ever celebrated Jesus's birthday "Christmas"like Christians do today. Here the question is raised that where has this festival come from in the Christianity If we look into the history; we shall find that Roman pagans celebrated Dec 25th as the birth of their "god" of light, Mithra. according to Encyclopedia of Britannica (ed.1998) so, there is no existence of Christmas festival until the year 530 C.E. After that It was the monk, Dionysus Exiguous  who first fixed the date of Jesus' birth on Dec 25th.
So we can see that neither the Bible nor Jesus and his companions say anything about the celebration of Christmas; but rather the bible itself criticizes what people do in Christmas. I hope that answered your question, if not
ask again and I will try to provide you with more information. May Allah show his mercy on you and your family.
